Sunday School begins at 10:30am - 11:30am

In Immanuel Lutheran Church Sunday School, we have fun learning about God’s Word, and we would love for your family to join us!

Start children off on the way should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

We use Growing in Christ Sunday School curriculum (Concordia Publishing House). Our Bible story sequence for Sunday School provides a comprehensive overview of the Bible in three years. We focus on biblical literacy, helping children learn about God’s plan of salvation as it unfolds in the Old Testament, in the life and ministry of Jesus, and the growth of the early church as recorded in the Gospel and Acts.

In the fall quarter, lessons follow a chronological section of the Old Testament. By the end of the fourth fall quarter, students will have studied all the major stories of the Old Testament. In the winter and spring quarters of every year, New Testament lessons are studied.

Classes are divided by age, so students learn and grow in faith alongside their peers. Each week, students across all age levels explore the same Bible story. Each student also brings home a lesson leaflet weekly with the Bible story and “family or home connections” to help families interact and discuss the stories at home, thereby growing in faith together as families.

Our Pre-K-K class studies the Bible story by engaging students with crafts, posters, props, and activities. The class meets in the West Sunday School room off Schember Hall.

Our 1st-2nd grade class is given a hands-on way to learn and internalize the Bible story through crafts, games, puppets, and more. The class meets in the East Sunday School room off Schember Hall.

Our 3rd-5th grade class engages students with discussions, skits, posters, and activities such as scavenger hunts and craft projects. With the Bible as the main textbook, they also use the ‘Bible Discovery Guide’ (Concordia Publishing House) which adds interesting pictures and background information for many familiar Bible stories. Students may take these guides home at the end of each quarter.

We also have a Young adults class for 6th-12th grade. This class                                                                                                                                                                 discusses Sermon points and current events.
